Copper mines can be pretty lucrative, with the mine owners getting paid to pump water, clear brush and haul in the dirt.
But sometimes the miners aren’t doing that, or the mining company isn’t paying its employees.
The problem is, if you’re digging for copper, you don’t always know if the company is on top of it.
The federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM) recently sent a letter to nearly a dozen Montana mining companies asking them to report on what mines they were working on.
The BLM wants to know if mining companies are on top.
